Increasing, decreasing and constant functions
A function f is increasing in an interval if x1 < x2 implies f(x1) < f(x2) for every x1,x2 in the interval. The graph of an increasing function "goes up" when x increases.
A function f is decreasing in an interval if x1 < x2 implies f(x1) > f(x2) for every x1, x2 in the interval. The graph of a decreasing function "goes down" when x increases.
A function f is constant in an interval if f(x1) = f(x2) for every x1, x2 in the interval. The graph of a constant function is horizontal.
You can see below the graphs of an increasing, a decreasing and a constant function.

Activity 5:
The following graphs corresponds to a function which is increasing, decreasing and constant in different intervals. Copy it in your notebook and specify the intervals where the function is increasing, decreasing and constant.
