Not to stop off after work, have 4 beers and 3 shots, and then drive home. That's dangerous and illegal. You know that alcohol impairs your ability to drive. You certainly do not want to be the cause of an accident due to having too much to drink, so you don't drink and drive. It's as simple as that, but what about other things that can impair your ability to operate a car?

Distracted driving is just as dangerous-if not more so-than driving under the influence, and there are many ways to distract yourself while driving. Make sure that you are not the cause of an automobile accident the next time you decide to save time by eating a cheeseburger or fiddling with the radio while driving.

3. Reading- Have you ever passed those people reading a newspaper or magazine in traffic? Now, that is distracted driving.!If you must look over a file before meeting a client, pull over and do it in the parking lot or the side of the road.

4. Changing clothes- Tie your tie before you leave the house. Do not do it in rush hour traffic. Keep your hands on the wheel.

6. Eating- Drive-thrus are part of life, especially on road trips or when you are pressed for time. Avoid the urge to eat and drive at the same time. Don't spill a cup of coffee on your lap and cause a twelve-car pileup.

7. Loud Music- You are not always the cause of an accident, but you can make it worse by not knowing what is going on around you. Loud music can distract you and prevent you from hearing horns or emergency vehicle's sirens.
