Social Bookmarking - One of the most prominent ways of marketing on the net today is social bookmark submitting. Yet, I feel like getting a handle about it might be too difficult just for the average internet marketer.

Social bookmarking has a lot more to do with social dynamics than it does with internet marketing. The entire idea behind a social bookmarking site is to bookmark your favorite sites, and share them others.

Social Bookmarking - The very concept of sharing something that's awesome has been around for centuries, especially on the net. And to use social bookmarking well, you need to understand some fundamental social concepts.

1. Social bookmark creating can, to some degree, actually hurt your small business

A lot of internet marketers feel that just because their site is bookmarked, a lot of people will see their website and go to it, cash-in-hand.

This is not the case.

In fact, by bookmarking some sites, you might be pushing more people far from them.

Social Bookmarking - Let me explain: if someone else views your bookmarked site, and does not like it, they will naturally desire to keep it away from others (especially if it contains anything near to a scam or an online product promotion). Simply because more people are looking at your site, doesn't mean more people will in fact go to your site and get your products.

2. Social bookmark creating isn't about bookmarking, it's about sharing.

If all you do is bookmark your entire sites, you won't see much of a result.

The idea behind social bookmarking is similar to the idea behind Facebook or YouTube, people desire to share what they like.

If you post an interesting website, with cool and useful content, and someone looks at your site, they will send it to any or all their friends and family. Then should they like it, they will perform the same.

Social Bookmarking isn't about bookmarking, it comes down to starting a chain reaction that may lead you to gigantic profits.

That's why you need to keep one specific thing in mind: bookmark your passions, not your small business.

Social Bookmarking - When you bookmark your casual blog, or maybe your favorite web page, you might be bookmarking something since you like it and want to share it online websites. By that very principle, others is going to do the same.

So don't bookmark your overall website, with millions of information that might not interest anyone, bookmark your recent post about new philosophical findings, or maybe your latest "book of the week" award.

Bookmarking is merely sharing on a larger scale, so share something worthwhile.
