Objectives

The aim is that when you have finished studying this topic you will be able to:

  • Know about the methods used by scientists in their research.
  • Understand the importance of mathematics to obtain the relations among the variables which describe the phenomena. 
  • Understand that the method is not dogmatic, nor immovable, nor immutable. 
  • Understand that only the daily verification of what a theory predicts confirms its validity. 
  • Understand the importance that research with this method has for the discoveries and progress of our civilization.
  • Understand the lack of material development in civilizations which have not known how to research and develop applications which permit scientific discovery. 
  • Understand that if it were not for physical-mathematical deducations it would be impossible to discover the phenomena which contradict so-called general common sense. 
  • Understand the importance of having a well-trained brain to be prepared to enter the social and working environment with sufficient guarantees in an ever-changing world. 
  • Develop a critical sense when faced with any theory or general statement. 
  • Learn the importance of planning any activity and verifying the results.
