Manometers: experiment 3 / 3

With the manometric capsule submerged in the liquid we can measure the pressure of the points through which the capsule passes.

We can cover the capsule with a rubber tube (you can use a rubber balloon) or with cellophane paper fixed to the capsule with a rubber band, or you can leave it without any cover.

When the capsule is submerged the water doesn't go into it, and at shallow depths it compresses the air almost imperceptibly. What it does do is raise the column of water in the manometre without it penetrating into the capsule.

Is the pressure of the gas as indicated on the manometer? Decide on your answer before clicking on answer.
