They say that Nero used a ruby as a magnifying glass. During the Middle Ages some learned men who were short sighted, used lenses for reading. Around the year 1600, a Dutch man named Liepperhey built the first telescope
worthy of the name. After that Galileo built others for himself and pointed them at the sky. The era of modern Science had begun.
